Part of going to a coffee shop to work as a writer is to have a cup of one’s favorite drink while sitting and writing. These, however, are not the same in all places. My preferred drink in the morning is a cup of medium roast with lots of milk. Some places have it, but the coffee tastes like grime. Others have no milk. The place I visited this morning has milk and decent coffee, but their milk comes only in the oat variety.
I have no problem with milk substitutes as I am not sworn to a cow’s udder, but some of these substitutes have a strong flavor that ruins the taste of coffee. That certainly is the case with the oat milk in this place, not to mention the guy takes it out of the fridge every time and, filling1/4 of my cup with it, brings the temperature of the coffee down, significantly. If it wasn’t for the quiet and cozy atmosphere due to fewer people visiting there, which means my favorite table will always be available, I wouldn’t go there at all.
