After receiving excellent feedback from my writer friends online, I found the perfect new title for my book. It is now called BETWEEN TEHRAN AND THE CASPIAN SEA. Every word in that title has a connection to the story. The plot moves between Tehran and two cities on the shores of the Caspian Sea, and the word “Between” reflects the state of the main character’s mind. She is always between identities, unsure how to present herself to different parts of the society to be accepted by the crowd. For parents and teachers, she is the good girl who studies hard and earns top grades. For her peers, she is the rebel who causes mischief behind adults’ back and pretends to be obedient to get rewards from them. One could parallel those states with the restricted, traffic-chokes streets of Tehran and the vast expanse of the Caspian Sea facing up to the wilderness of its rural shores.
